Hiding in plain sight

I’ve been posting somewhat less regularly on this blog as I’ve been focussing on returning to work after my summer layoff period.

As well, I have been working on a 30 Day Blog Challenge on my writing blog, If You Would Not Be Forgotten. The Challenge is really adding to my writing but perhaps has thrown the balance off from here. There are some photo opportunities coming up this weekend so perhaps things will even out next week!

Growing up….

Growing up is losing some illusions, in order to acquire others – Virginia Woolf

Twenty years ago, we headed to the hospital to begin a long night of labour before the early morning of September 13th, when our amazing daughter was born. I do remember the day she was born with great clarity and definitely count it among the best days of my life.

Laura has always been an amazing person – full of spit and vinegar, some would say. She lives life to the fullest and takes you along for the ride. We are lucky that, as a young adult, she is as much a part of our lives as when she was younger – always on our minds, always bringing a smile to our faces.

Today I saw the dragonfly….

Today I saw the dragonfly

Come from the wells where he did lie

An inner impulse rent the veil

Of his old husk; from head to tail

Came out clear plates of sapphire mail

He dried his wings; like gauze they grew

Thro’ crofts and pastures wet with dew

A living flash of light he flew.

Today was good.

Today was good. Today was fun. Tomorrow is another one. – Dr. Seuss

My first day back after my annual layoff period was good. Even a bit of fun. Other than the rain, it was a great first day!
