There appears to be some confusion…

I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I’m not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant. – Robert McCloskey

Is it just me, or do the Site Stats at WordPress confuse you too? I can have multiple “likes” on a post, and have few or no “views” of my site. How does this work? I know they explain at the bottom of the “stats” page about how numbers don’t seem to add up, but there is no explanation of how one gets multiple “likes” and no “views”. Additionally, lately several people have subscribed to my blog but again, there are no stats showing “views” that show that a corresponding number of people have viewed my site.

I appreciate that this is not an exact science, but I am confused. I didn’t get into blogging for “likes” or “views” or “followers” – though those have all been wonderful bits of icing on the cake – but I would definitely like to understand the process.

I feel a bit like this little guy looking over the edge into the unknown.

  1. I have the same thing happen to mine Paula, I think it is partly that people get the email with the post and then don’t click to go on the site, so you don’t get the “click”. I don’t always think the stats correspond with the likes either. I’ve notice that my stats can stay the same for a few hours, then I get a like, and the stats haven’t changed. I am as confused as you, but I do believe that people who follow you, or many of them, get the email read that and then don’t go to the blog. If you figure it out will you let me know.
